Can’t play game because opponent is over roster limit

I am in challenge mode. I am unable to play another game because I have an opponent to my minor league team over the roster limit. There is nothing I can do except raise the roster limit, but this team continues to hoard players so I keep having to raise and raise the roster limit so I can play my own games.

Any resolution to this? I'm having the same problem
