Graveyard Baseball League

Well, if you haven't heard, Penn State has decided to shut down a bunch of their smaller campuses next year, including Penn State Wilkes-Barre, which is basically my second home, and along with that, they ended the baseball program after the end of the 2025 season, so the "Mountain Lions" as we were called, are no more.

Officially a defunct team, I figured, rather than being depressed, I'd do an OOTP sim with the "Graveyard League," a league of defunct teams from the 1870s and 1880s, and a few from before then too, who along with the Mountain Lions are now in the graveyard of forgotten baseball teams. There are a few I didn't include simply for the sake of intending to use them as expansion teams later on.

Winning a championship frees your team from the eternal haunted graveyard, and they metaphorically get to go to sleep somewhere peaceful, and their players all go into retirement. Whoever the last remaining team in the graveyard is will be trapped there and be cursed forever.

The starting year is 1837, the year the year that William Wheaton drew up the "Gotham Rules" which I consider to be baseball's official beginnings but it's really subjective I suppose.

Teams have a limit of 10 players per team, but I decided to just make the entire team simply for the sake of having everyone present for the photo. Only 10 will actually play this year, but rosters will expand to 15 guys for 1838 so they'll just be on the reserve roster sitting dormant until next year. Oh also I decided to make them look more 19th century with the additions of cool facial hair and my personal "porcelain" gothic look just because I felt like doing it.

This year's World Series will be a matchup between the St. Louis Browns and Worcester Ruby Legs. One of these teams will be set free while the other will have to stay for at least another year if not more.
