Extra Inning Loss
April 19th, 1950 (Wednesday)
W/L record 0-2
The Athletics lose a tough one in Washington. A 10-inning pitching duel between the Athletic's Alex Kellner and Washington's Sal Maglie resulted in a 1-0 loss for Philadelphia. Left hander Kellner (0-1) allowed only 3 hits going into the tenth when Al Kozar singled and was then doubled in by pinch hitter Mickey Grasso for the winning run.
Maglie gets the win for the Senators in 10 innings. The Athletics managed 7 hits on the day but stranded 11 on base. Philadelphia looks to prevent a sweep of the three game series tomorrow night at Griffith Stadium.
