Unfortunately, I did not write a recap for the first three games of this series.
In a nutshell, this was a four game series against the Red Sox at Shibe Park. The Red Sox had won their first four games of the season, meanwhile the A's were looking for their first.
April 21st, 1950
Philadelphia 3, Boston 2
April 22nd, 1950
Philadelphia 6, Boston 2
April 23rd, 1950 (double header)
Game 1:
Philadelphia 7, Boston 3
Game 2:
Philadelphia 5, Boston 4
Here is a recap from game 2 of the double header:
The Athletics hosted the Boston Red Sox in the second game of a double header yesterday winning 5-4. Elmer Valo hit a two-run triple in the 3rd inning giving Philadelphia an early lead. Alex Kellner went the distance giving up 4 runs on 7 hits for his first win of the season. Boston led by a run going into the bottom of the eighth, but the bullpen could not hold the Athletics at bay. Philadelphia completes the four game sweep of the Red Sox.
W/L record: 4-3, T-3rd, .5 GB
