April 25th, 1950 (Tuesday) -- Philadelphia, PA
W/L Record 5-4, 3rd place, 1.5 GB
The A's split a two game stand today against the New York Yankees losing 3-1. Joe DiMaggio's two-run homer in the third inning off loser Lou Brissie (1-2) was all the Yankees needed to keep the A's down. The home run was the Yankee center fielder's third of the season.
Though the Athletics only managed one run, they were able to get 10 hits off New York lefty starter Ed Lopat (2-1). Trailing 3-1, Philadelphia squandered an eighth inning bases loaded nobody out situation that the Yankee left hander managed to escape.
Elmer Valo continues his hitting tear for the A's with a three for four day raising his average to .471 on the season. He also drove in the only Philadelphia run.
