May 24, 1950 (Wednesday) - Chicago, IL
W/L record 18-19 (.486), 6th place, 4.0 GB, Streak L1, Last10 6-4
The Chicago White Sox pulled out an exciting extra inning win against the Philadelphia Athletics at Comiskey Park.
The struggle between the two teams lasted 5 hours and was delayed in the 10th inning by a 40 minute rain delay. The soggy weather didn't stop the Sox offense though, as Gus Zernial's walk off bases loaded triple off Bob Hooper in the bottom of the 11th inning completed the game by a score of 11-10.
The game saw the lead change at least three times. The A's went ahead in the top of the 8th only to have the Sox tie the game in the bottom of the 9th forcing extra frames.
Elmer Valo and Eddie Joost provided some offense in the top of the 11th giving the A's a two run lead 10-8, but ultimately the Sox pulled it out in their turn at bat.
The A's and White Sox play one more time Thursday before the A's return home for a 17 day/17 game homestand.
