The Philadelphia Athletics started their four game series with the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park today with a win, 10-6.

Boston pitching served up ten walks on the day with Mel Parnell (1-3) getting the brunt of the damage giving up seven runs in the third inning. The Boston bullpen didn't fare much better, allowing three additional runs on six walks and eight hits.

The A's split a two game stand today against the New York Yankees losing 3-1. Joe DiMaggio's two-run homer in the third inning off loser Lou Brissie (1-2) was all the Yankees needed to keep the A's down. The home run was the Yankee center fielder's third of the season.
