I understand what you're thinking of, and will consider re-structuring if there is enough call for it. My initial reservation is that management of 15 separate decade threads (1870s through 2010s) would be much more involved than the current single-repository model.
If, as I said, there is general call for a different structure I believe there are some other issues that we would have to address (none of which would be insurmountable), but before going into those issues I would be interested in hearing other views (either posted in this thread or via PM for those who wish to keep their views private) on the subject.
