Pretty much all you need, basically at any rate. Other settings are up to your preference.
Watch the color bar if you want non-white players to come in immediately, although it's only 1947 I'm unsure about. I think the game kills it automatically for either 1947 or '48.

I think that's basically what I've been doing, but seems the kicker is eliminating the inaugural draft. It's doing like a fantasy draft there to stock rosters, but I don't want that to happen. Is there a way to turn off that draft at the start of play, so real rosters in 1946 are there and there's just an amateur draft of random historical players?
