Can I create this scenario?
What I would like to do is start a historical sim in 1946, importing real history and records to that point, and from then on have the players be randomly introduced in the amateur draft. Randomly, as in Barry Bonds might debut in 1950, etc.
Start in 1946 with historical accuracy and rosters, add players randomly from there. I can't figure out how to do that. There is always an inaugural draft and no history for the league once it's created. Thank you. |

That should be fairly straightforward. Just set up an historical game to start in 1946 and have the history imported. In the Wizard, select both historical rookies and random debut. You'll get all of the 1946 players and then from '47 the random debut part kicks in.
Pretty much all you need, basically at any rate. Other settings are up to your preference. Watch the color bar if you want non-white players to come in immediately, although it's only 1947 I'm unsure about. I think the game kills it automatically for either 1947 or '48. G |

Here are the steps I took to recreate it.
New Historical Game ![]() Go to LEAGUE SETTINGS / HISTORICAL and check use random rookies from all eras, setting the range as desired. Go to LEAGUE SETTINGS / RULES and enable the Amateur Draft, changing the settings to how you want them. Seeing as you've not done so in the Wizard, you should save the game at this point and go through and make all the various settings how you want them to be. It is daunting, but take your time and continually back up the game in a way that you know where it is, so you can revert to a point before things have gone wrong (if, indeed, they do). The main groups are SCOUTING - PLAYER RATINGS - LOGS & DISPLAY - PLAYERS - FACEGEN - AI SETTINGS (these are in the first row) and then the league-specific settings in the second row. It seems the color barrier is disabled by default for 1946. If you are new to the game, I'd honestly leave most of these at default other than auto-save, which I think should be daily. The game defaults to how the devs feel it is best played down the middle of the road. As you become more familiar with things, you can start tweaking. The first set of rookies should first appear as a Draft Pool on the reveal date, which is perhaps the most crucial setting for the game to move forward smoothly. So make sure the Draft date AND JUST AS IMPORTANTLY the reveal date are in the future on the simulated timeline. You can know start playing. For example, in my test, I had the Draft reveal set for 150 days before the November 15 Draft, so that's on June 18. When you reach the reveal date, you should receive an email about the pool and it can be examined at your leisure via the LEAGUE / ROOKIE DRAFT dropdown. It should have guys from all over the timeline. A couple points of note. There might be a more straightforward way of doing this, I'm not a huge random debut player. If there is, hopefully someone a bit more knowledgeable will chime in and set you straight. I'm pretty sure you get the 1947 rookies automatically, but then after that it should change so that the pool is derived from the range you have set. Again, not 100% sure on that and hopefully someone who is can let you know. Hope that gets you where you're trying to go bud. G |
