As I said prior, I have been an OOTP'er since the very beginning after reading a review by William Abner.

Until I read the Garlon and Tiger Fan blogs earlier this week, I never had any interest in Historical simulations. I am sorry I never tried them - I am loving it.

I was surprised how disappointed I was when, after only 8 full seasons and 244 home runs, Hank Aaron suffered a career ending ankle injury. That disappointment was only aggravated by the retirement after the 1965 season of Willie Mays. Willie hit 361 HRs.

This is a lot of fun.

Joe DiMaggio fractured his skull in the All-Star game leading to his retirement. Jose Canseco (don't remember) and Barry Bonds (fractured skull) both retired really early after looking like legit threats to break Babe's HR record (642), but McGwire smashed it with 757.

The only injury I've had to a major player so far in this new version is Chief Bender. He was injured at 27 years of age, so he only had a chance to play 9 seasons. John McGraw also suffered a CEI but he was 38 by the time it happened, so his career was almost over anyways.

Another interesting thing worth mentioning is when the pitcher version of Babe Ruth was imported into the game I renamed him George Rutherford because I wanted to see how well he did as a pitcher and still have the hitting Babe Ruth. I didn't get to see what Rutherford was capable of though because he retired at the ripe old age of 20. He played exactly one season.

Both cases it was a fractured skull. Stan Musial at age 28, consistent 25-30 homers and .330 avg, don't know his final stats, though.

And Ty Cobb ending his career with 908 hits. I guess his detractors caught up to him

Babe Ruth retires with 301 Home runs, having been plagued by injury from 1924 on.

Joe D. only played 4 years before fracturing his knee.

Ted Williams is the career leader in damn near everything, with 677 HRs. Played from '39 to '63, League MVP 10 times.

Mantle is single season HR king with 63 in 1953.

Aaron is at 443 in 1968, but the injury bug looks to be striking.
