Can't load historical data

I'm trying to create a historical game using the Lahman database. But I can't even get that far. The game freezes immediately when I hit "Add Historical Major League." I have tried it several times, and nothing ever happens. All other options I have tried work.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions as this pretty much ruins for me what otherwise looks like an exceptional game.

Can you provide us with anymore information please? Computer specs, setup? Steps to exactly reproduce how and when it crashes.
