This is not the case and I'll be happy to send you the performance logs when I get home if you want to see them.

Perhaps a solution to this is to empty the cache every so often, say once a year or every so many games. I'm not sure what exactly your caching or why so I can't propose a solution. The one thing I can say though is it needs to be looked at and I'll do whatever you ask to help resolve it. The way it is right now I can't run a 100 year sim without restarting the game every 20 years or so.
You're right, it should not be getting slower. Actually when all templates are in the cache it should be faster! When you start to simulate, and the program does not find templates in the cache, it will load and prepare them each time when a template is needed, so it should be slower when you start and faster after some "game days".

Interesting! I'll look at it again, and from a different "point of view" now.

Great. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help out.

"Painting" the window needs more time if it's so much bigger.
Would this affect text output as well? The interface itself seems to be performing in the same neighborhood (not such a difference in either direction that I notice), but it's in-game play-by-play output that really slows down for me in fullscreen.

In windowed mode, the text (set at very high) goes by way too fast for me to read, which is how I like it. In fullscreen, it's slow enough (still set at very high) that I can read all but the longest lines of text before another comes up.

It's annoying because I'd love to play the game in fullscreen, since you can see more info and such at one time and the text in the webcast stats is much more readable from a few feet back like I like to play, but it's too slow for my impatient self.

Great Thread Jarmenia
The more programmers that will take a look at speed and resoucefulness the better I notice the game runs A LOT smoother with virus programs OFF. Kind of an uncomfortable situation to speed up a game but it does make a huge difference.

I'm not a simmer and it happens to me too.

When I first load the game, mouse clicks respond immediately. However, after a while scouring the free agent pages - sorting, loading profiles, applying & taking off filters, the game almost grounds to a halt. It can take a few seconds between clicking on a menu command and the screen coming up.

If I save & exit, then reload, it's fine again. I have 1Gb ram so this shouldn't really be happening.....

If you are uncomfortable disabling antivirus when simming , disconnect from the Internet. When done simming, power off. Reconnect the cord. Power on.

First check whether your antivirus software has the option to exclude certain folders. I'm using Norton Antivirus and simply added the OOTP folder(s) to the exclude list. Has the same effect for the game as switching the software off but is much safer

Didn't know that, trying it now.

Andreas, while you are here maybe you could answer some questions about speed and ootp2006?

In game after hitting enter and getting the resulting pbp we hit a buttong to continue. In old versions this was virtually instantaneious. My ootp 2006 however takes about 4 seconds to bring the batting\pitching options backup.
Is this normal?
If so how come?
Or will excluding ootp folders from Norton help with this?

Thanks
Sweed
