A quick question if I may...

I was just wondering how sure the ootp/si team was that, if they are sure at all, that the news ticker was causing a slow down.

I'm running ootp '06 on a pentium 4, 3GHz, 508MB of RAM. So it's above the minimum specs and just a little bit shy on the RAM for the recomended.

The game sims fine and I have no problems there but once that news ticker comes up it starts chugging like no tommorow. Eventually it get so bad I restart the game and it works quickly again for about another 2 hours. Mostly i guess I'm asking what will the option to remove the ticker really do? Will it help in this area or must I do something else to speed this up?

Patch 1 has a toggle to enable it or disable it but it's difficult to pinpoint.

I've a decent machine and cannot make my system run like a dog no matter how hard I try!

See that's the wierd thing. Sims fine, a season in about 3 minutes with the major league, with full minors, and cuban league. I'm gonna sim a few seasons see if it slows down much more. Whenever it chugs I restart it and it works like new again.

edit: lied.... minors are on normal detail. :-)

ok. for a quick refesher:

I'm running ootp '06 on a pentium 4, 3GHz, 508MB of RAM. So it's above the minimum specs and just a little bit shy on the RAM for the recomended.

Did a simulation test . Used the major league and mexican league from the start up options so I had a full compliment of minors for my major league. MAL and MEX leagues were all on very high stat detail while the minors were all on normal stat detail.

First test was with the details enabled. The it took 31 minutes 12 seconds to simulate one year.

second test was with the only way I could disable to news ticker which was to disable to details while simulating. This took 17 minutes 3 seconds.

The first test took about twice as long but it also took about as long as simulating a season took me with ootp6, and it's of course recording several times the stats. Now while the second test isn't really a good test as while the ticker was disabled so was everything else to give you information, I think it does show that with the ticker disabled option coming up in the first patch it will speed things up, at least a little. Again this is me guessing so please don't flame on me for it. I could be wrong. I probably am. But I'm hoping I'm not.

Also I was wondering about the batter vs. pitcher stats under the batter stats. Mainly I was wondering if each of those stats are there forever, and if they are, if you could patch it so once the pitcher retired if the stat on the b vs p could also disapear as he's retired and not comming back so it's really just there for posterity.

I know the History and SION make the run slower after a while. Like if i sim a bunch of years and try to scroll on the SION page, its real choppy. Then i noitce its using 100% CPU. Then All the menus start to get laggy and i gotta restart the program.

Upcoming 1.02 patch should address these memory issues, as extensive research and tests have been occuring on this. Back to open status.
