CPU drafts "too well"

In my 200 year sim, I would say over 95% of my HOFers are 1st round picks. I think there was ONE 3rd round pick that made it, but from what I see, only the high draft ones ever amount to a HOFer. I'm not saying that this is a bug, but I would like to see some 'low' rated prospects become HOFers.

I do, however, see that some low round draft choices have a career year.

I admit however, that it could be due to the fact that I don't have a minor league system and only 10 rounds in my amateur draft.

Actually others have noticed this. I have minors enabled (all 5 levels) Player development is non-existent rounds 3+. Which means potential doesn't really go up for guys who don't have potential to begin with. Hopefully it gets tweaked.

I agree....looking around my fictional league that I've been running for about 30 years now, anyone who's anyone was drafted high in the first round....it seems like it's too obvious right from the start who's going to be good and who's not.

They say that potential is more fluid with young players, but maybe it's not fluid enough, or perhaps (as was always the case in older ootps) there aren't enough "usable" players being generated for each draft.

I had the same concern looking at the early drafts. At least in 6.5 you had the chance that a guy might get some of those talent boosts that would send his potential up in a hurry. Here it seems like the talent boosts are exceedingly rare and the potential moves rarely (if ever). So if you're not coming into the league with major league potentials, you're basically toast.

That makes managing the minor league system nothing more than a huge, boring chore - doubly so now that we have to pay such close attention to filling out every roster. There's nothing better in 6.5 than seeing a 7th round pick suddenly get a couple of boosts and become a viable major leaguer - and there are plenty of guys in the majors right now who were picked below the first couple of rounds and became good players.

If none of them are ever going to amount to anything, then I'm just wasting my time setting their lineups and rotations and depth charts, reading their box scores, and even preparing for the draft.

I think the draft needs to have many more solid major leaguers coming from the 15th and later rounds and a few more top pick busts.

This is a hot topic for discussion, and that's all I feel comfortable saying.

Interpret as #1 it is being discussed at this moment and #2 I won't say anything else on that topic, as it would make me uncomfortable doing so.

This issue has been claimed fixed in Patch 2, and has been verified.

Thanks,
