Lahmen Loads Really Slow

For some reason my game loads the Lahmen database super slow. I mean it takes hours to load a historical year. (Five hours for my last upload). I have an AMD 1.394Mgz processor with 256K Ram. When it does load I get a messeage saying my Virtual Memory is low. Do I have to change the settiings? Do I have enough RAM? Or is it something wrong with the game itself?

The RAM is a bit low, but the issue probably lies elsewhere.

I'd reboot, then use taskmgr to kill all unecessary processes running in the background, then launch OOTP, then do an import.

I find if I cut down on what my CPU is doing during a Lahman import, I can cut load times in half. I can load 1990 in about 5-6 minutes.

FWIW, I have an AMD 1.25 Ghz, 512 MB RAM. (I know, stop shouting.)

I frequently use OOTP with other software open, although nothing too CPU-intensive. My load times with Lahman and other databases have been so quick I haven't bothered to time them. I'd say 2-3 minutes, max. Definitely lots faster than 6.5.

I'm wondering if I should try to reload the game. Problem is I bought the game from the demo version. Will I be able to activate the full version from the demo or do I need another download?

You can always reinstall the game, it will remember your license without any issues.

Just download a fresh copy of the demo. The demo and the "real game" are the exact same software, it's just that if you have a license, it's not a demo.

You are low on memory. The recommended minimum memory is 512 MB. But, like Fidel says, I think something else is going on here.

Reinstalled the game, uploaded the year 1945 in about 45 seconds.
