League files being saved to wrong directory?

I recently created a new fictional league (Central Coast Baseball League in the screenshot) I fiddled with it a little and autosimmed the inaugural draft. I have some logos I wanted to use in it so I quit the game and went to open the customization manual to see how to do it. As I was reading though that, I went to check in the OOTP directories to see where to put the logos.. following along with the reading. When I opened the OOTP data folder, I noticed that somehow the CCBL files got saved directly inside the saved games folder, as opposed to in the CCBL folder which is inside that. When I tried to put them in the CCBL folder, reopen OOTP and "Continue" the CCBL league (first option on the main screen), it couldn't load the league, giving me an error about the league either being corrupted or an old version. Putting the files back where you see them, everything works fine, but surely there is something wrong with this? Has anyone else encountered this problem?

I am running OOTP 1.0.1 on a Mac.

In the attached screenshot, you can see where the CCBL files are. "Test MAL" was the first league I created, based on the MAL quickstart. Those files were all saved in the right place. I don't know if it makes a difference, but I have modified the nations.txt and team nicknames files a bit.

Since no one else seems to be having the same problem and since I am really anxious to continue playing this league, I'm going to assume I did something unwittingly stupid somewhere along the line to cause the problem myself and simply don't recall doing so. So, I will just delete the league manually and start over. No need to reply to this thread anymore.

Hold the phone.... 'tis gettin' weirder!

I did what I said I'd do... deleted the league manually. Recreated the league (by hand, no quickstart). Got it all set up the way I wanted to. Did the inaugural draft. Rearranged my roster a bit, promoted and demoted a player. Have not simmed past inaug. draft day yet. Saved the game and quit. Checked my OOTP folder again and voilá! Note this time, the CCBL does not even have a .lg folder! All the files are dumped directly in the saved games folder!

Bumping this back to the first page because it seems to be a pretty critical issue, even if it only seems to be happening on the Mac side (judging by the fact that no one else seems to be reporting the problem).

If no one else has any other suggestions, I'm going to try, 1. making my "test MAL" league the default league, in case it's putting the default league right inside the saved games folder for some reason and, 2., creating another fictional league from scratch, in case it's fictional leagues that are causing the problem.

Well, I'm still stumped, but I did discover one more interesting piece of info.

I created a new fictional league with the default settings and it was created normally in a .lg folder. No problems accessing it. I loaded my Test MAL league and it loaded fine. However, I noticed when I tried to go back to my CCBL league, it was not available in the load file window when I tried to load it. Apparently, it is inaccessible once it's left the current active league status, because the game has no .lg folder for it to be identified with.

So, what I am going to do now, is delete all my leagues, and try creating a new one and see if it again makes one without a folder. Wish me luck!

Well, the new league was created without a hitch, but I think I'm on to something. Off to test one more thing!

Phooey, it didn't work! I noticed that since I had deleted my Troubleshooting League manually, it remained as the active league on the main OOTP screen, and it also created a new folder for it, with only three things in it: an "import_export" folder, a "news" folder, and an "options.dat" file. (Why does it create this when there is no such league anymore?). It occurred to me that since I had done this before (at least, I think I did), creating a new league with the same name might force it to get dumped right inside the saved games folder, without a folder of its own though. Tried that and it wouldn't let me. Gave me an error about there already being a league of the same name. I'm out of ideas for right now. Anyone else?

(Did I hear someone whisper, "TT"? )

*Not-completely-gratuitous bump*

I should have noted before that this was happening under Mac OS X 10.4.6. Now that 10.4.7 is out, I'm tempted to start over and try to duplicate the problem again. Should I send you my saved games folder as it stands presently? (before I try again, i.e..( I don't think I've played OOTP since I posted here last.... I've sorta been waiting for the next patchlet. Heh. ))

By the way, I don't mean to seem like I'm trying to bug you guys. I know you guys have your hands full right now and that you'll take a look into this when you get a chance.

FWIW, I have not seen this bug repeat itself with patch 2, so we might as well close this thread for now.
