Man, I wonder if MLB knows its own rules
I've read plenty of comical stories about MLB people not knowing their own rules. But there's so many and so few make sense, can you really blame?

With the internet so much is written of what people think are the rules and then those of us who really don't know them read these articles and think that they must be true because the author at least seems to know what he's talking about. I mean, I read about this 37K$ minimum 40 man salary, but I don't know for sure. Maybe someone on the internet made a mistake and a bunch of people copied the mistake. Who knows.

I doubt you could find all the rules in the rulebook and the CBA either. They're probably spread all over and if they are then that's the worst problem of all with them.

Exactly, which is what I have been saying . However, if you want to have a guy with a MLB contract that isn't on your 40-man...he would have had to go through the waiver process and given permission (assuming he is out of options).

If nobody claims him, he goes to the minors (though if he has 5 years of MLB experience, he can declare free agency).

So according to that... the guy has a MLB contract, but is removed from the 40-man via outrighting and goes to the minors.
This post thread has definately given me a headache but I now understand roster rules much better (I think).

I believe the thing that the game is handling incorrectly is that we cannot outright players to the minors after they have cleared waivers and thereby remove them from the 40 man roster. In order to get them off of the 40 man roster we must release them. I hope this will be fixed at some point.

100% agreed. I just ran into this myself - the AI had assigned a bunch of ML scrubs major league contracts and put them on my 40-man roster. I wasn't so bothered by that (I can spare a few league minimum contracts here and there). What did bother me was that I couldn't remove these guys from the 40-man roster once they cleared waivers. From everything I've read about MLB roster rules, that's something (outrighting) you should be able to do to a player once they've cleared waivers. I'm not sure why this behavior was changed in the patch, cuz I'm pretty sure I was able to do it before.

This issue has been fixed in the next patch, and verified. Moving to Claim Fixed.

Don't ask me to explain it, please.

Although, I will try to sort through this and put some more info in the next version of the Game Guide.

Awesome - I saw that in the latest patch update.

I'm very curious to see how this has been fixed. I asked about the details in the Patch 1.0.2 update thread so maybe Markus will answer if he gets time. Thanks battists!

I'm curious too, but honestly, I think there's little chance that Markus will respond. He's totally at the wall working on fixes and stuff, he can't possibly have time to read General right now.

Help Needed

Never mind, just read that this is a prevailing issue, being fixed with next patch. Sorry.
