A closer look at on-line league crashes
I did some testing of what causes the problem in on-line leagues. I was running an imported on-line 6.5 game, in a fictional country, and it initially ran fine as a regular (not on-line) OOTP2006 game, regardless of whether I changed to the fictional country, regardless of whether I corrected the cities to match the initial league, and regardless of whether I added the minor leagues.
I added a human manager and made roster changes in the file (no export/import) and it still ran fine. The trouble kicked in when I exported, reloaded the game, and imported as commish. The first game day I simmed, I was told that the human owned AA team had only 2 players. I fixed the problem, and everything ran fine, until I once again had the human owner export, and once again the AA team was stripped of players. This is where things get weird. I fixed the rosters by hand as human owner, and exported a third time. This time I got a "calendar" error twice as I was importing -- but, oddly, the import worked, the changes were definitely made (so I know that the import actually "took") and the game ran fine. The fourth time I exported as a human, the game became totally unstable and crashed to desktop.

Beorn,
Thanks for this information, I've added it to our existing information on online league issues. Since those issues have already been logged, I'm going to move this thread over to the Claimed Fixed forum, OK? Thanks, Steve |
