5 Rounds or 80?

Running a Lahman 2005 just to move forward with real players and a modern league....I have it set for 5 rounds in the draft but there were 80 rounds....I don't think I need 3000 new players per season.

Ammy Draft

I just got to the Amateur Draft and it's 85 rounds long!!

Went to game setup and saw that the draft is set for 5 rounds (I KNOW I set it for 25)....hmmm....

Question: WHEN are the new players created? Is it when the pool is announced? Or at the start of the preseason?

I'd like to know how far back in time I need to go, to try to fix this....

(And please let us edit the draft pool BEFORE the draft)

5.... 25... 85... they're all divisible by 5... what's the difference?

Boilermaker,

Sorry for the slow response to this thread.

Was this an inaugural draft you are referring to, or the first amateur draft? I'm guessing amateur.

What was the rest of the game configuration like? Were there minors? Other leagues?

I ran a test in my current beta of Patch 2, and was not able to replicate this issue.

Thanks,

Steve

I had this happen a few times after I had altered the league structure prior to the first amateur draft....going back in time and resetting the draft to the proper number of rounds in game setup rectified the situation....

Are you saying that you altered the league structure, and in doing so, the draft rounds set itself to 80?

Yes...(The draft itself was 85 rounds; however, the number shown in Game Setup was 5 (though I had set it for 25 at game creation)....

Durnit, I can't seem to replicate this problem.

Questdog, are you aware of a way in which I can make this problem occur? Do you remember what changes you made to the league structure?

Thanks.

Alright folks, unless someone can replicate this again, and give me the specific steps they used to replicate it, I'm not sure I can do anything with this.

I just tried creating a 2005 Lahman game. I set the draft to 5 rounds. After the game started, I moved some teams to opposite subleagues, created a new schedule, and then simmed up to the Amateur Draft. It was 5 rounds.

I really need a way to narrow this issue down for Markus to have any hope of finding it.

Thanks for your patience.

Ok...here's how I setup the league for the latest find of this bug..

24 teams/2 sub-leagues Minor league setup with actual leagues (Pacific Coast,etc.). June draft set to 25 rounds.

I left one Rookie league team unassigned by accident. After the inaugural draft, I assigned the Rookie league team to an organization. When the June draft rollled around, I didn't notice that it was out of whack (but it may have been). At the start of the SECOND season, I changed schedules by importing new ones and did not alter the league structure at all. When that June draft rolled around it was 80 rounds and the setting in Game Setup said it should be 5. (It was originally set to 25). Going back to opening day and setting the Draft to be 25 rounds corrects the problem, so it is occuring prior to Opening Day.

Possible that importing schedules is the culprit here....

If you still can't duplicate this bug, let me know and I'll figure out exactly how to duplicate it....

I merged some related threads on this issue.

Questdog, I've still failed in my attempts to duplicate this issue. If you do have a chance to figure out how to replicate this, it would be much appreciated.

I suggest saving a template of the game. That way, if you are able to replicate it, you could just get me the template!

Thanks,

Steve

Guys, I'm sorry, but I have still not managed to reproduce this issue.

We have a rule that states that Tech Support threads wherein we have not received a response within 7 days will be closed.

This one meets this criteria, so I'm closing this.

If you want to discuss it again, just PM me with the thread link, and I'll re-open. (Don't just say "Hey, reopen my thread." I need to know the URL, thanks!)
