Teams in affiliated Minor League that are unaffiliated

I have a league where I wanted to have some teams that were not affiliated...well. It works but it doesn't work very well.

I had two subleagues with two divisions with six teams in each division. Four teams in each division are affiliated...two are not. The standings at the end of the year are pretty interesting. One division:

UnA 128-16
UnA 125-19
A 59-85
A 56-88
A 45-99
A 44-100

The rest look fairly similar. The problem that I think is happening is that the affiliated teams are losing players but they aren't being replaced. I don't know if that is true...I'll be checking next season. It just shouldn't be happening like this...I don't think.

Of course it's not the way it's supposed to be. The good fictional players on the unaffiliated teams are still down there and haven't been called up. And the AI on the major league team has no concern about stripping the minor league team of all its players. At least you made it all the way through without crashing. I hope the patch irons out the problem.

Now I think the unaffiliated teams would win every time even with good AI, because they get to keep their good players. Your results are a touch extreme, though.

This problem could also be caused by another problem I noted on here already. Namely, the unaffiliated teams can spend as much money as they want! Check out the financial report for those teams and you'll see what I mean. One team spent $144 mil. in one year and that was a class AA team. Obviously, this means they can acquire major league level talent which would tend to make them better than the rest.

I'd like to see the team vs. team won-lost records. The distribution of results would be interesting.

Reverted to open status, for more input from the original poster.

MorseMoose,

I'm sorry for the awfully slow response to this thread.

Obviously, some time has passed since you posted this issue, and the 1.0.2 patch has since been released as well. Are you still seeing this issue? I have not been able to reproduce it so far.

Please let me know!

Thanks,

Steve

From my experience, the issue here is that as someone pointed out, there's no where "up" for the players on unaffiliated teams to go. A bigger problem, IMO, is that the minor league free agency setting doesn't seem to apply to players on unaffiliated teams.

You will also see the unaffiliated teams sign players to extensions--"major league" extensions, but not to the extremes as before--but those extensions never actually come into existence because free agency isn't working.

The only real work around is to manually go through unaffiliated teams and make sure the best players are "released" so major league organizations (or foreign leagues--or what have you) can sign them. Probably less of a bother for people who like to play in "God" mode anyway (like myself), but a huge hassle for others.

Carplos, I've never heard of the FA not working for unaffiliated leagues. Could you please start a new thread about that, with whatever information or examples you have?

Just curious, though, how does player movement really work for unaffiliated leagues? I don't even know that...

Hmm?

It works fine for unaffiliated leagues, just not for unaffiliated teams in affiliated leagues.

Looking at Marc's latest update, it seems to be fixed for today's patch, though.

We have a rule that states that Tech Support threads wherein we have not received a response within 7 days will be closed.

This one meets this criteria, so I'm closing this.

If you want to discuss it again, just PM me with the thread link, and I'll re-open. (Don't just say "Hey, reopen my thread." I need to know the URL, thanks!)
