Another team re-signing my player?

as soon as I patched the game, I got this e-mail. I'm currently in mid-august...

"Rumors have become reality as Clete Minard put his signature on a contract that will keep him in Milwaukee another 1 year. The deal is valued at $7,450,000 per year."

You've gotta feel good for the reliever getting an extention that high priced... after all, he's not even a closer. He's just a middle reliever... for MY team. Toronto. If there's ever been a clearer case of tampering, I'd like to hear it.

So. Now he has a ridiculously huge extention that I didn't want to sign him for, and I don't even know if he'll be on my team or Milwaukee. I gotta ask... what the hell?

Can you verify with certainty that he still shows up on your roster? And can you verify that there isn't another player sharing the same name? Without simming any further, can you zip up the game's .dat files and post them somewhere that Markus can download them from? Aftewhich, post here and I'll enter this issue into TT. You can also email the files directly to Markus at markus.heinsohn@sigames.com

I've already simmed significantly further.

But I still have the e-mail and there's still the contract extention attached to the player.

And yes, he shows up on my roster, and he's the only one of him.

I had a team sign a free agent, the player got hurt and then placed him on the DL. Then another team signed him, without the original team releasing him. So he ended up on both teams rosters. He has pitched for the second team and his stats did not update. I am running the 12258 patch.

This has happened in my league as well. I contributed it to patching while in the middle of a season but it is still crazy.

Do any of you have a copy of these leagues from BEFORE APPLYING THE 12258 patch?

I think that there was a problem in 12258 that caused this to happen.

What I'd like to try, assuming you all backed up your league files like good little boys

, is to have someone try this:

1. Restore your game files to a point before you applied 12258
2. Open the game file in 12260, and see what happens (whether this signing happens, for example).

Although I stupidly didn't back up before I applied the latest patch (edit: actually it is 12258), here's what happened to me.

I see in the headlines that a MR I just signed gets a 1 year contract with another team in February. I'm confused but I look and he is still on my roster and not on the team he supposedly signed with, so I figure no big deal. Then, unrelated or not, I start the season, sim the first month and notice that my star 1st basemen isn't in my lineups at the end of the month like I had put him there a while ago. Not only that, but he now plays for the Yankees or at least he did play for the Yankees. He got put on the DL and the Pirates signed him somehow. I go into commissioner mode and put him back on my team (It didn't seem like I could revert my saved game which was annoying as when I went to load, it automatically saved, but that's another issue). He promptly won player of the month for me despite not playing a single game for me, but he did a hell of a job for the Yankees. ****ing Yankees!

Now back to the reliever. At the end of the regular season I notice that he picked up 31 magical saves, many of them in losses. For some reason this reliever gets saves for no reason. My real closer had 42 legitimate saves. These are odd events to say the least. I should probably hold off on my league until another patch.

Since my league automatically saves at the beginning of each year, are there automatic backups that I can restore?

Must have been that one patch. I've played 2 or 3 seasons since and haven't seen the same thing. Although that year did screw things up a bit. My record for games played in a season is held by a guy who played in around 200 games. Needless to say he also holds the record for at bats in a season. Somehow a handful of players ended up on two teams at once. But haven't noticed that since.

On another note, is there anyway to alter historical data so I can fix the record book?
