Compressed History Random Debut DB now available
Compressed History Random Debut DB v.1.0 (10-11-06) is available for download (see link in signature).
Based on Arod23/Garlon2006 Career Average DB I thought I would do something a bit different with a random debut DB. Instead of randomly assigning debut years for all of history, I have compressed history to about 20 years. I have played with other random debut files, but always got frustrated waiting 50-70 years for a Ruth, Cobb, Williams, etc. to appear. And, the leagues were still so filled with average talent and few superstars (which I realize is normal). So, I thought this DB would be a unique compromise between a league of only all-time greats and true historical play. You still have a draft class, you still have regular players filling up roster spots, but you have more than just a few legends playing at the same time. The debut year of all players has been randomly assigned to the years 1900-1920. Import year is 1901 though, so the league begins with some veterans. |

Sounds interesting. Did you remove some of the scrubs from the DB? How many players import per year?

It is based on the Arod23/Garlon DB which has numerous modifications, including the removal of cup of coffee players. I also removed handful of additional "duplicate" pitchers we added in the 1800s to allow 1800s leagues to fill rosters. The DB contains over 10,000 players, so about 500 import each year in this version. The regular random debut DB has between 80-120 import each season, since it is based on over 100 years.
