Ootp 6.5 / 2006

Hello.

I recently purchased the OOTP 2006 version. The league I am in currently uses the 6.5 version. I thought that I might be able to import the league data/files ... etc ... from an older version into a newer version. Of course I found I that I cannot.

Am I doing something wrong with the import or is 6.5 not compatible with 2006?

Thank you very much for any assistance.

Well, it depends what you're trying to accomplish.

If you're the commissioner, you should absolutely be able to convert your 6.5 league into OOTPB 2006. However, it's something that should not be undertaken lightly, as all of your GMs must then upgrade as well.

If you are just a GM, there isn't really a way you can "view" your 6.5 league in OOTPB 2006. In both versions, all GMs must be on the same version of the game.

If you are in fact the commish, the Game Guide has some detailed instructions on how to import a 6.5 league. Additionally, if you visit the Online Leagues forum, you're likely to find a lot of information from commissioners from other leagues who either had a lot of success, or a lot of trouble converting.

Regardless of what you end up doing, you should ALWAYS fully back up your 6.5 league before moving ahead with anything.

Thanks,

Steve

Good afternoon Steve and thank you very much for your informative reply. I am only a GM at this point .. but the good news on the horizon is that the league I am in will move to 2006 for their next season.

Again, thank you for taking the time to reply.

OK, it seems like I've answered your questions. I do recommend that your league take a careful approach to converting. Depending on how your league works, some leagues have had more success than others with the conversion process. Good luck!
