Never Ending Spring Training

Ok, so in one of the leagues in my online league Spring Training has never ended. It should have ended months ago but we pushed forward anyway, figuring it would end soon and we didn't want to delay our league's season. Thing is, we just simmed to the point where the playoffs should begin for said league and there are no playoffs. As well, the Spring Training option is still on the menu. Is there a solution to this?

just a bump, we're kind of stuck until we can get this solved. Any help would be great.

OK, silly question, but without looking at the file it's the first thing that pops to mind: Did you set a valid start date for the season?

I did though it did fubar Spring Training anyway, we couldn't figure out why. I changed nothing and it had all worked fine the previous 2 seasons. Just this one it decided not to.

The natural changing of the seasons really hasn't caught up with Markus' game...

They are too busy beta testing OOTPBRPOC 2007 to make sure it's a bug free as this version. They don't have time for your silly problems.

It would appear that no, no one is. This isn't the first Tech support thread I've started for this game that has gone utterly ignored. I suppose once they have your money there isn't mich else they want from you so there isn't a lot of motivation to help

Is this a fictional or historical league? Did you alter your schedule in some way, and if so, exactly what did you do?

Just to make sure, is the Disable Playoffs option unchecked in the Options screen found under Game Setup->League Setup?

When you write that you simmed to the point when the playoffs were supposed to begin, do you mean that the regular season played out normally, or that there were no games played whatsoever during the regular season timeframe?

Have you tried simming out another year, just to see what happens? Does the Spring Training status ever disappear?

It is a fictional league. The playoffs button was checked and tha calander said playoffs start on 9/5, we simmed to 9/5 and no games. We haven't tried simming out another year because it's an online league which makes it pretty tough to just go ahead and sim another season.

Were regular season games played?

Try making a backup or copy of the league and simming that out for a while. See what happens.

If worst came to worst, you could run exhibition games to simulate your playoffs. The records wouldn't be there, but you could have something.

OK, let me start off by apologizing for the lack of attention this thread has received. However, let me also say that some of the attitudes in this thread are really appalling, and really make it hard to want to help out in any way.

There are three people with the responsibility of monitoring this forum. None of us are paid by SI to do so beyond the "perks" we receive. That means this is not a full-time job. It's a volunteer thing we do to help out the community in between our real jobs and lives. We're all ordinary people with real lives that can get in the way, especially in a busy pre-holiday season. Please try to keep that in mind before making snarky posts your only contribution to the community.

With that out of the way, please FTP the file to us using the instructions that can be found here so that I can take a look at the league. Thanks.

The attitudes have less to do with you guys not doing your job but that there are only 3 unpaid moderators doing all of this. It feels very much like SI and ootp developments don't much care if problems get solved.

As for the FTP it is not letting me connect at the moment. Not sure why but I'll try again in an hour or so and post when I have the new file up. At this point we've moved to where the beginning of the new season is supposed to be and it still has the league sitting in Spring Training.

Yeah, SI's servers seem to be having trouble right now.

As for why they don't hire someone to monitor this forum full-time, it's simple economics. As much as we all like OOTP, it doesn't sell enough copies to justify a paid tech support guy. That's reality, and as much as we'd like it to change, it's not going to.

Sadly, the lack of tech support is what is making OOTP less of an option for online leagues. When there are huge issues that go either ignored, un-noticed, or for whatever reason don't get looked at or fixed, that is a huge problem.

I find it hard to belive that Sports Interactive does not have a tech support staff.

I think that's overstating a little bit. We're here, it's just a very bad time of the year right now. Goodsox is busy in real life to the point of not being able to post much, Battists is busy organizing the 2007 beta team, and I'm in and out because of family visits (my excuse this weekend) and getting ready to leave modern society for three weeks.

I seem to remember a ton of last year's beta testers helping out in this forum until late in the summer when the steam died down, and there are still very helpful people like Curtis coming in here to help where they can. To say that there's no support is a stretch.

You also have to remember that 2006 was rougher than subsequent versions will be. That's the reality of doing a complete re-write. This was just a flat-out bad year to be short staffed in a tech support forum.

I genuinely feel bad when I don't have time to help here, or when I run into issues that I can't help with (see: historicals and 6.5 imports). But at the moment, there's not a whole lot that can be done about it. That's why I'm asking for patience instead of snarky comments from people that I've never seen anything else from. Not going to name names, but they know who they are.

Also keep in mind that I'm a player like you guys. Check out the number of threads I posted in here before I became a mod. I know exactly why it's frustrating, and I wish I could do a better job of alleviating it. But I'm only one part-time helper in a sea of broken imports.

I should have stated that differently. I didn't mean to come across as being down on you, f.montoya, or anybody else who is trying to help out here while not actually being affiliated with SI.

The point I was making is that the tech support for the game should not be comprised of a forum on a message board that is monitored by 3 guys that aren't even paid by the company.

The problem is that this tech support forum is not staffed at all. Unpaid volunteers are not staffing. Nothing at all against you guys because you are way better than nothing, but it's total BS that SI can not hire one guy to do QA on this product and monitor the tech support forums.

Take my snarky comments as directed towards SI and SI employees and not any volunteers (although if you are volunteering to do tech support for a game that is buggy and not supported by it's publisher other than to provide forums than you are just asking for snarky comments).
