Trouble advancing calendar in offseason

Having some trouble moving the system through the offseason.

During the 2006 season, I ran into a problem wherein the schedule could not be advanced past April 23. When I installed the 1.0.2 patch, that problem appeared to be solved. (See thread at http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...d.php?t=126738.)

After the World Series concluded in my league, I began to see an problem - the offseason wasn't moving according to schedule.

For example, right now the league date is December 23, 2006. The upcoming events are:

12/24/2006: Playoffs are over, the Offseason starts
1/3/2007: Gold Glove winners are announced
1/4/2007: Rookie of the Year winners are announced
1/5/2007: Cy Young
1/6/2007: MVP
1/13/2007: Salary Arbitration
1/16/2007: Free Agency
2/5/2007: Winter meetings start
2/9/2007: Winter meetings ends
4/12/2007: Preseason begins
5/12/2007: Spring Training begins
6/11/2007: Regular Season begins

That last one is then repeated (in the "Auto-Play" section) about 15 times.

These are clearly incorrect.

When I click the Continue button, one of three things happens:

1. The schedule advances to the next day (that is, the calendar changes).
2. Two (one after the other) popup error boxes appear: "CALENDAR_DATE::get_age - invalid date" [I click OK for these; nothing else I can see to do...]
3. The system crashes (OOTP2006.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close).

No matter which of these happens, though, the schedule of upcoming events changes, somehow. That is, the dates on which the events are to occur changes, and not all by the same number of days (one may change four days and another by two, etc.).

I thought maybe if I began a brand-new league and imported the 2006 league into it, that would work; but in OOTP 2006 you can import only files from OOTP 6 or 6.5.

So I'm hoping someone here can help, although I admit I'm a bit pessimistic, since I had a similar problem earlier this year. I have a lot invested in this league, so I'd love to be able to save it..

Thanks in advance!

You say that you installed patch 1.0.2, but I didn't see a mention of 1.0.3. Just to clarify before we get started on this, have you installed the latest patch?

Yes, I have installed patch 1.0.3 as well. I just repatched to be sure, and there's no change.

Could you send us the league file so that I can take a look at it? The instructions for doing so can be found here: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...d.php?t=131548

Thanks!

Well, thanks for the help. Assuming the lack of response () indicates that my league cannot be saved, I'll probably have to start one over from scratch. Which, unfortunately, might mean a whole new program...

I'm a bad, bad mod, and you can feel free to bludgeon me with the soft object of your choice.

I'll take a look at this as soon as possible. I'm having trouble connecting to the FTP right now for some reason, so it might be this afternoon.

OK, something is definately messed up in that league, but you already knew that, I guess.

The first thing I noticed is that the trade deadline and roster expansion dates were set a year too far in advance. But even after changing those to 2006, the errors and crash still happened.

Do you happen to have a backup from the previous season?

edit: No, wait, that's not right. The 2006 part. That was my brain not working.

I really think there's a problem with the start date of your season, based on what the advancement calendar is showing, but unfortunately there's no way for me to see what it is because the game is locked into December right now.

So, any chance of you having a back-up from earlier?

From the previous season? Nope, because this is actually the first season. I had to restart it once during the season, too, and I had issues last year.

I think what I'll do is start a brand new league. (I considered buying a different game, but better to go with the devil you know, right?) It's really the only way to handle it.

PS: It's too bad one can't hack into the game to "unstick" the season from a particular stage. For example, this one is convinced that the season is still ongoing even though it knows it's December. If I could get the season to correctly conclude, then the offseason stuff could occur.

I'm either having a flashback or simply mistaken. Wasn't there a mention of a template folder (or the like) that needed replacing or deleting when moving from 1.02 to 1.03 in specific circumstances? That error message sounds strangely familiar to me, i.e. the CALENDAR_DATE section, and it might have been online league related. I don't know.

Mentioning it just in case it might help by sounding familiar to someone else who may know if it's related or not.

Edit: I just did a search of CALENDAR_DATE for this forum and it linked a good number of threads. I'm at work, so don't have an unlimited amount of time, but if you get the chance you may want to read through some and see if any apply.

I did do a search before posting this, but none of the results helped me. (Some weren't applicable, anyway..)

One big difference seems to be that most of the other issues were related to the importing of a season. This season isn't being imported, exactly. I mean, it did import last April, and it worked until May, and then the calendar issue cropped up. But then the latest patch fixed that, and the season continued on. And on. And on. Even after the WS ended, the offseason didn't begin. Quite perplexing.

Was this a league imported from 6/6.5?
