Bad Bug- OOTP frees my Vista PC!!

I wish I could type!!!
I meant to say it FREEZES my PC

This only occurs with face gen active. It is random and unpredictable. I can sim for 1 season or for 1 minute. inevitably, the games freezes my computer so I have to manually restart it (as in hold the power button in for a few seconds)

If face gen is not active (folder renamed) this doesnt happen

I am not using a substandard PC

I have a sapphire radeon X1900XT card, Athlon 64 x2 4200+, 2 gig ram

I have Catalyst control center installed which allows open gl to work from what i understand

Is this fixable?
I like the face gen....

It also crashes it without face gen (but is kind enough not to freeze it)

Help I want a refund or a fix to this

I dont want to wait until 1.03 or something so I can play the game

Is there an email address for help or this it?

Are you using video drivers that are MS certified? I'm dual booting and I've had a lot of issues with Vista not working well with certain drivers.

That's the first thing I would look at.

If it's crashing without facegen, I'd say it's not related to graphics drivers at all. What else can you tell us? Is it a fictional league? Are you using a roster set? A database?

The original post specifically states that it only happens with facegen active.

There are two crashes I have/.. the one that concerns me most is the FREEZE

THE GAME SHOULD HAVE AUTO_SAVE OPTION (AFTER EACH DAY, WEEK,MONTH ETC... user could pick)

It annoys me to have to replay what I did and it isnt ever the same!

I am playing a fictional game or was (have now almost given up because my data will belost anyhow) made it 2008 inm June (am I being punished for puttng my team first pick in the draft ?

The game does, in fact, have exactly that option, with the addition of YEAR. I have mine set to auto-save daily.

Not sure if it vista certified.. but I am using drivers specific for vista 32 bit

Try this:

Reboot your system, and hit F8 when the screen to select Windows Vista comes up.

Select the choice that allows you to load unsigned drivers, and then try again.

Anyhow.. tried it.. didnt work. PC froze again

turned off facegen and got an error message and game shut down.

To Markus or someone from OOTP- now what? I cant sim another day. it wont let me. my modern pc crashes and freezes.. how do i get a refund. it says you are committed to finding a solution... please help me.

You should have an email address for help or tech issues..

#1 - I'd wait for the first patch to see if that improves your facegen problems.

#2 - You haven't answered the question above - what type of lg file are you using when you get the crash (your own created fictional league or something you downloaded somewhere)? And what error message do you get - if any - when the game crashed? If no error, does it crash at the same spot every time?

I am playing a fictional league.. there are no discreet error messages that I can see.. im not sure if there isa log but id be happy to share the log with people here

the pc freeze is random.. it happens sometimes when I open a players card (though facegen does make faces for many players) sometimes for no reason

the game crashing with facegen inactive is also random.. currently it happens when I sim one day.. it says I have a new message then a Vista message window pops up that the program isnt responding.. sometimes if I click on the close program window the pc freezes.. sometimes I get lucky and it doesnt freeze

I can wait til patch one for facegen... but i still cant play the game without face gen and i dont know why and dont know how to explain why...

i am a loyal customer, having bought 5,6,6.5, 2006, and now 2007

Has anyone asked you to try uninstalling and reinstalling the game? Just to make sure there wasn't a problem with the install?

We do have the option of enabling trace mode if needed and that might help us isolate the problem (though I have no experience in setting it up). I might have to leave that to someone else.

nobody from the company (as far as i can tell) has asked me anything.. you've eben very helpful and i appreciate that

I was actually uninstalling as i read your message

then I had a brainstorm.. close my antivirus program in case there was some strange interaction.. i tried ootp again... and my pc froze and i had to restart

I have not had a pc freeze from any other app

I tried a new league and it crashed (but not a freeze) during the setup...
i will uninstall and then see what happens
