Missing players in historical league

I started up a league in 1987 using the Gambo database. After doing all the setup and started looking closely at teams, I noticed that SS Gary Templeton was not on the Padres. I couldn't find him anywhere in the organization or the free agent list, yet he was the starting shortstop that year in real life. I opened up the database csv file and he's listed there. So I'm wondering where did he go? I also noticed that Roberto Alomar was nowhere in the Padres' organization. Alomar's first pro year was 1988, but looking at the csv he should be listed in the minor leagues somewhere (I think). Any ideas?

Templeton is a mystery........he showed up on the reserve roster for me (using Gambo's v1.5) and was released after a couple of days.
(Mitchell was at SS)

The Import DB has Alomar starting in 88, and the yearly DB has him in 84. I believe that this DB only has their first year in the minors (as a starting point) before they made the majors - and not each season.

I may have figured out what happened. I think the game had Templeton in A ball. When doing the settings, I set the maximum age in A ball to 30. Instead of moving him up or releasing him, the game just deleted him. Not what I had expected, but that's the only explanation that seems to make sense.

Yep you nailed it. It was the only compromise available so that it only shows as few of the "fake" stats as possible.

Not quite - he appears on the Import file in 85, 86, 87, 88... on the Yearly file in 85 and 88, on the Lahman in 88. If Gambo's instructions are followed correctly (or use this) on a 1987 start, Alomar should be imported on game start with ratings that should put him in the minors for a year. It sounds as though the OP may have used the 'Yearly' file for the year of import, instead of the 'Import' file. In that case, Alomar would not import until 1988 (or, he is in the minors).

I followed Gambo's instructions correctly (using import file) and Alomar was in the league at the major league level before he got deleted. I specifically recalled seeing him, which was why I later noticed he was missing. The other change I made in age settings was to set the minimum MLB age at 18, and that's what I believe deleted Alomar (apparently 18 in the age settings means over 18).

In any event, I trashed the league and started over, and Templeton, Alomar, and everybody else who should be there per the csv are there. Lesson learned. Leave the age settings alone.

Ah, didn't realise from the initial post that you had seen Alomar and then he disappeared.
