Ted Williams Finally Gets his due
I have run a historical league starting in 1901 using the Gambo DB and I'm up to 1963. The leaderboards are extremely accurate, Babe Ruth has 743 HR's as an example. The one exception has been Ted Williams, who has blown the roof off most records because he remained healthy and didnt go to war and miss service. He's still playing in 1963 at the age of 44. At the age of 42 he had one of his greatest seasons, hitting .346 with 56 HR's and 135 RBI's. Some of the records he holds are 840 HR's, 2607 RBI's and 4358 Hits. He never did hit .400 but did bat .380 in 1940. This is a feasible career if Mr. Williams hadn't missed all that time for war service. It's the duration of his career that has made his numbers so fantastic. He started playing in 1935 for the Cincinnati Reds and is still playing in 1963.
All in all, I would call Markus' game a very realistic simulation, and I am very pleased with it.

A lot of historical sims using Gambo are seeing huge numbers for Williams. They way recalc works with Gambo's pro-debut import year setup means he debuts too early (3 years early), as well as then not going to war, leading to very high figures.

Im in 1978 of my 1901 sim,Williams is the leading home run hitter with 711,and the all time hit leader also,he comes in at 17 is part of the problem, anyone know if Gambo is going to addressd this?

I can't speak for Gambo, but from a couple of other threads I think his DB is more or less working as he intended. IMO there are a couple of other issues with it, including some players retiring after import and odd history (because they go straight into the majors, play badly, then get dropped to the minors).
I'm testing something of my own (an adjustment to standard Lahman) which I might post at some point.

I just ran a 100 year test using Lahman 5.4,really great results,I think I prefer that database now. Results are uncanny,Williams isnt so dominating, but still had a great career 643 hrs second on alltime list behind Babes 739.

Most of the database testing was done from the Lahman 5.4 database.
