Activating player from 60-day DL

On July 16, 2002, I attempted to activate a player from the 60-day DL. The player was injured on May 28, 2001, for a duration of 13 months. According to the Disabled List page, he was nearly completely healed, with just 5 days of "injured time left". The game did not allow me to activate the player, claiming that "This player isn't eligible to come off the DL yet!"

Something's not right. I should be able to activate the player on the 61st day after he's placed on the DL, regardless of whether the injury is healed or not.

That is odd. I can move players back from the 60-day DL regardless of whether they are injured or not, as long as their DL time is up.

Presumably this is a historical league of some kind? Are you using the first patch for the game? Did you change any of the Roster Rules away from their defaults?

If it is historical, then I have a bad Lahman database, as I have no team called Syracuse Lakers in my ML.

Just curious, why would you want him off the DL list if he is still injured?

No, fictional league with 1 12-team major league (in 2 sub-leagues), five levels of minors (AAA, AA, A, split-season A, rookie).

First patch installed.

He's got 5 days left until he's fully recovered. I don't check things like the disabled list / waiver list / trading block every day, but I happened to look on this particular day, and I figured, rather than try to remember to come back and make the move in 5 days, I'll make it now.

Regardless of whether he's fully recovered or not, I should still be able to make the move.

Interestingly enough, when the player was fully recovered, the game displayed a message that he was eligible to come off the DL.

Can you repeat this problem with another league? I can't seem to make it happen.

Potentially useful information: I simulated approx. 25 years to create some history before taking over my team. The injury occurred during the simulation, and the player was on the 60-day DL when I took over the team. Perhaps that had something to do with it.

I took over a previously AI run team to test this out, myself. Didn't have the problem.

I think there's a bug here, but it's hardly a show-stopper, since it happens rarely and the workaround is simple, i.e., just wait until the player is fully healed to activate him, which is what you'd probably want to do anyway.

I'll keep an eye on future 60-day DL-ed players to see if it continues to occur.

Unless it was something fixed in the last patch, the game does not let you take any player that is still injured off the DL. It's been something that most online leagues and a lot of solo players have been requesting for years now.

Correct me if I am wrong, but in MLB, if a guy is on the 60 day DL list, he can't get off the list and join the team until the 60 days are over. I found two rules that verified this:

Here is one:

Disabled List: The disabled list is restricted to players who have been given a medical diagnosis by an authorized doctor. There are two types of major-league disabled lists, the regular or 15-day disabled list and the emergency or 60-day disabled list. Players who are placed on the disabled list are inactive for a minimum of 15 or 60 days depending on the list. Players on the 15-day DL can be moved the 60-day DL at any time. Players on the 60-day DL cannot be moved to the 15-day DL. Players on the 60-day DL do not count against the 40-Man Roster. Often a player is moved to the 60-day DL to add a non-roster player to the roster. For every player on the 60-day DL, another name may be added to the playoff eligible list at same position as the player on the 60-day DL on August 31. A player may be placed on the DL retroactive to any date after the last date he appeared in game, up to 10 days before the date of placement on the DL. If a player spends an entire season on the 60-day DL, it does not count against rookie eligiblity. All players must be removed from the disabled list by the end of the free agent filing period (15 days after the conclusion of the World Series). Injured players can not be optioned to the minors.

Comedian, these guys are stating that they are having a problem removing players from the DL who have spent all of their required time there (15 or 60 days) but who are still hurt.

Zekester, this was an issue in 2006 to my knowledge. By the release of 2007, I do not believe that this was a problem. Are you experiencing this issue as well? Perhaps you could shed a bit more light on when it is happening?
