Corrupt file?
Over the weekend, OOTP crashed for the first time while simming the first month of my 52nd season of my fictional league. Now the league won't load at all. The dialog box gets to "Finalizing...100%" but never moves past that.
I have to assume the game trashed my league file when it crashed (oh, a hard lesson learned about creating a full backup). My questions are these: what files are likely damaged? If I rebuild my league (which I clearly will have to do), are there any files/folders I can port over that should be undamaged? Might there be safe files that might restore its history, or am I stuck with starting over at ground zero?

I would guess that if you have a corrupt file, you should probably start from scratch, because it would be hard to tell which files were corrupt.
Usually when there is a corrupt file, however, you get a dialog box that tells you that. I would create a test league, and make sure the game is working properly. Let us know how it goes. |

After the season was over, I moved some teams and realigned the divisions so they were even and made sense. However, I forgot to regenerate a new schedule! I have a sinking feeling that when the game started simming, it crashed due to the incorrect schedule and messed the league up. Fortunately, I was able to at least save my ballcap and jersey files, so most teams had the same uniforms when I restarted. Also, I learned a few things about OOTP 2007 that helped me when I restarted the UBA, so hopefully I can avoid some of the oddities that arose over the 52-year history.

I agree, that sounds like your problem.
Since the problem has been solved, I'm going to close this thread, if you feel it should be opened at a later time please contact a moderator. |
