Template Problems and Fixes Didnt Work
I tried to set up my first historical league with the Lahman database and got this error:
TEMPLATE_ENGINE::load_template_file - cannot open template file team report page.tpl I get the same thing for breaking news start, end, box links, and others. There are about 15 error messages in all and then the game crashes. I did the fix found at http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar.../t-142348.html to get the folder out of My Documents and it still didn't work. I saw another post somewhere that the first patch fixes the problem and then had the "Unable to open the user data folder! Please reinstall Out of the Park Baseball" error I've also had before. I tried the fix at http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...d.php?t=142326 and that didn't work either. The game was working fine before the database download. I'm now past the Unable to open error and back at the templates errors. If it helps someone help me, I no longer have any of the files in the My Documents folder (they're directly on the C drive) and I don't see any of the templates the game is seeking in the templates folder or anywhere else. A search also failed to find them anywhere on my computer. Please help! Thanks, Steven |

Well, they should be in the \data\templates\ folder (I have 709 .tpl files in there, if that helps)...if they're not, I can only suggest reinstalling the game as I don't think they'll be auto-regenerated.
BTW, I'm a bit confused by your mention of the Lahman database as that shouldn't have any bearing on OOTP's template files...did you try to set your Lahman folder as the OOTP data folder, or something like that? Last edited by Zeyes; 05-11-2007 at 08:22 PM. |

What is the best way to reinstall the game? I mentioned the Lahman database only to say that that's when the problems began. I did put the Lahman folder in the data\database folder of OOTP. Is that the problem? I thought that's where it went. |

Since it sounds like you haven't played yet and thus can't lose any saved games etc., just go to the Control Panel -> Software, and deinstall from there. (I'm assuming you're on Windows.) I'm not sure if there's a need to deactivate the eLicense first, but you might want to do that just to be safe. The option for that should be in the SI->OOTP2007 folder in your Start menu. Do make sure you have your order ID handy to re-license after you've reinstalled the game. No, that's not a problem then. I don't think you necessarily need to put it there though; the game will prompt you to select the Lahman folder when you set up a league. |
