Can't delete games

Okay, I know when you go to load, there is a delete option. Problem is, after I click a game the delete option is only clickable for a fraction of a second before it becomes disabled again. I guess it initially thinks it should be able to delete it but then for some reason decides it can't. It does this with all my saved games.

So I deleted them by finding the saved games folder and just deleted them manually, but the problem with that is it doesn't get rid of all the residuals. For example, if I try to create a new game with the same name as the deleted ones, it says there is already a game with that name.

It's not a problem I can't live with or anything but if there's a solution that'd be super.

That should only be happening if you delete the most-recently active save game, as OOTP's "Continue Game" feature (on the main screen) expects it to still be there and recreates an empty folder if it's gone missing.

The names of all other deleted save game folders should be available for newly-created games; at least it works that way for me.

Edit: And the in-game Delete button works fine for me, FWIW...except for the currently-active game, for the same reason as above I presume.
