How to adjust historical stats?
Good afternoon to all.
I have been lucky with help so far, so hope to find help with this little problem. I want to replay from 1946 to present. However, I want each year's stats to mirror those from the mid 60s. I set things in 1946 to do this, and it worked. Unfortunately, for the subsequent years, the game downloads the real league totals so that my adjustments are way off. I don't understand why the game is downloading the real league totals since I did not check that box, nor did I check the box for historical accuracy for individuals. I have played around with checking and unchecking these two boxes and no combination worked. So, my question is - is there any way to set the game once in 1946 so that the league totals will mirror the mid 60s from then until 2006? Or, do I have to readjust the league modifiers every year; if so, at what date would I make this adjustment so that the league totals for the subsequent year will be mid 60s-ish? Thanks for all your help. CharlesC |

When? Just before Spring Training and yup ya just gotta do it.
BUT Ya also gotta check the league totals several times during each season as making these adjustments can cause them to go all screwy on you. I made a spreadsheet that tells me how much to change the settings after each month to get to what I am looking for as a season total and doing something like that will allow your season totals to be really close to what you are striving for. I have tried several ways to force this as you have but so far it just hasn't worked out. Players from the 40's and 50's just have different skill sets than major leaguers in the 60's and so even if you set the league totals they will tend to drift over a season because of that. Monthly adjustments do work to keep this in check. |

Thank you, I'll try it. Though I am hoping that someone can come up with a less cumbersome method. Maybe this is an idea for the next version?

You can set the game to not change rotation size and endurance and such which is at the top of the screen so it would fix this all up if you could do the same with the stuff at the bottom as well.
BUT when I do this by hand it still doesn't quite work the way you might think given the different skill sets example... in the 40's 200 inn 80 k's and 100 BB's is not out of line with a normal pitchers skill set but it is in the 60's so the low K ratings and high BB ratings tend to create a very non-sixties result. |

Your best bet with this, I think:
Edit the erastats.txt file. You can open it in Excel as a csv file. Copy a selected year's league totals (everything but the first column) to all the other years. Save it (and change it back from csv to txt if you changed it), and the game will do what it can to ensure that every season's totals are close to that season's.
