continuing past your database

Is there a way in game or league options to continue your historical sim savegame with fantasy rookies after the last year of your historical database?

The game should automatically recognize there are no more historical players to import and will start generating fictional ones.

Great, thanks. I just didn't want to hit that date and have something screwy happen. I've just backed up anyway!

Always a good idea and one I rarely follow.

no fictious players

Is there a way to not have the game generate fictional players once my db runs out? I just want real players in the league and I thought I could just remove some teams once the majority of players start to retire.

Letting your league dwindle away to nothing as no more players enter the league? That doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. I suppose you could shut off the amateur draft, but I don't know if the game would make fictional players as free agents then.

I might be wrong but I think if you delete/remove teams it can lead to the game crashing. Be sure you got a good backup.

The game will automatically create free agents if you don't have an amateur draft. I had a league with 18 players per team, no draft. I was wanting to create my own players and put them on specific teams, but the game creates free agents at the end of season depending on the number of players that retire.

It would be nice if a pop up came up and asked you if you wanted the game to automatically create X number of players.

I don't know if this would work, but you could add to the database manually and only add one player per year, call him "XX" or something, and just delete him when he shows up.
