OOTP 8: Crash on Lineup / Rotation tabs
Just this week I started getting a crash on these two tabs. I can play games fine, just can't go to my roster screen and change starting rotation or lineups. It just gives me the "OOTP 8 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
This happens on 3 tabs only. Roster, lineup and rotation. I tried reports, personnel, etc and they work fine. I'm running Vista. Have not installed any new applications that may have caused compatibility issues. Not running any other applications in the background. And I have uninstalled / reinstalled and it did not fix things. The funny thing is that OOTP 2007 still works fine in all screens, so I have resumed playing that game until I can get OOTP 8 to start working again. |

Are you running a historical, fictional or the pre-loaded MLB quickstart?

I'm running the MLB Quickstart, as well as a fictional 16 team league that I carried over from OOTP 2007. Same issue occured on both leagues.

Are you using version 8.0.0.13 of OOTP 8?

I also got a crash message but I got this message after pitch-by-pitch game over. I think this game is unstable. Perhaps, Are you using window mode to play this gmae? I am playing this game with window mode and use alt-tab key very often. I'm running Windows Xp

Mota, can you share your processor speed, your RAM, and your hard drive space both total and unused?

4GB RAM (Vista 32bit only reads 3GB though) I have hundreds of GB of hard drive space free, I would say 400GB taken and 500GB free. I might try uninstalling and DELETING the directory before reinstalling. Maybe the uninstall left traces of junk behind that didn't get overwritten last time. |

Yeah I tried completely deleting the directory after uninstall and it made no difference. Also tried creating a brand new league from scratch and that didn't help either.

Well it has to be Vista related somehow. I have XP running through Virtual PC and it works fine that way. Looks like I'll be playing my OOTP 8 on XP from now on.

Well it isn't related to Vista. It has to be related to one of the leagues that I have, and somehow it is corrupting something? As soon as I loaded up my MLB league that I had been playing with a few months ago, my XP version of OOTP8 started crashing exactly the same way.
I did the same thing ... uninstall, delete the directories and reinstall and it still crashes on the same screens now. Is it possible that the game is leaving registry settings in there that may be causing these problems? If it works once and then screws up even after re-install, there must be SOMETHING left over that would cause the same problems to re-occur. |

Geez, I dunno. This is an odd one. Roster, pitching, and lineup screens crash, eh? Do you have any custom filters saved?

I just downloaded the game last weekend and after spending my free time adding player pics and such to the files , tried setting up a league, and ran into this exact problem you describe Mota. I also tried uninstall, reinstall to no effect, hope someone can figure this out......?

No custom filters? Not even unsaved ones? Hrm.
Well, there is information kept in the C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 8\data\config folder. I suppose that you could try deleting that when uninstalling and reinstalling. |

Another user posted the following in another thread when prompted to delete the info in the above folder.

Well, I did the full uninstall, deleted everything out of My Documents directory, and deleted the Roaming directory, and then when I reinstalled it now works. I have re-imported my main OOTP2007 league and it seems to be working fine. Thanks for your help!
