Crash when viewing player's batting splits

I've looked through alot of the reported bugs, and most crashes seem to involve trying to view reports (where it pops open the internal web browser or external web browser). This crash I am experiencing is not when trying to view a report, it is simply from trying to see the batting splits of a specific player within game.

I am running the most recent OOTP8 patch, on Windows XP sp2. I was playing a season that was started with the "new major league game" button at the start.

Error signature:
AppName: ootp8.exe AppVer: 2.0.0.0 ModName: ootp8.exe
ModVer: 2.0.0.0 Offset: 000eb2cc

I have the "3665_appcompat.txt" file if anything in there would be useful in troubleshooting this as well. I can recreate this crash everytime I reload it by going to the player in question, clicking on batting stats and then choosing 2007 batting splits. I can do the same thing with other players and not have this problem, as far as I can tell, this is the only player I've seen this with so far.

Is there anything noteworthy about this particular player? I assume that when you enter his Player Profile, the game doesn't crash. Do any of his batting stats look out of order there?

Nothing looked out of ordinary there, and when I go to the batting order/depth chart lineup and choose to look at the same splits there for the entire roster, it does not crash. Only when I click on that one tab does it crash. The only thing I could think of with him was that he went up and down between the majors and minors several times that years, but the same was true of other players as well.

Does it only crash when applying certain splits, or only when viewing a certain set of stats? Can you narrow down exactly what is causing it to crash? Is it only Batting Stats and 2007 Batting Splits, or will other combinations also do it?

That was the only thing that did it at that point. Clicking on all of the other options seemed fine for that player.

In a different game I am playing, still using the MLB game I am seeing this behavior with different players. Still the same thing, clicking on splits for that player will crash me. Clicking on splits for other players will not crash me.

Alan, no obligation, but start a test league of even 6-8 teams using the same method you did originally, New Major League Game. Sim a few months into it and see if the same problem is generated. Maybe we can narrow it down to that module. I'd do it, but I'm at work now. If I don't see a post from you, I'll try it myself over the weekend. Thanks.

Oh, and exactly what Split button are we talking about again? On what page or tab?

I haven't had any real time to go through complete testing like you describe here, and with it being super bowl weekend doubt that I will. One thing I can say though is all of the leagues I do in ootp 8 are all the New Major league game setup. And I have seen this problem in all of the leagues, and it is always pressing the same button. "Go from your lineup and depth chart or your pitching rotation page for the team. Choose a player in question, and click on them to bring up their player page. Then choose batting stats (if a batter) or pitching stats (if a pitcher), which gives you the option of choosing Split statistics. When I click on that is when I get this crash repeatedly.

I am talking in game pages, not speaking about web reports at all here for any of this. I have a completely seperate problem with web reports crashing me, but I just don't click on any web reports and get around that. This problem is a pain because it can randomly crash me without warning or prediction, but doesn't happen the majority of the time. Only in a small handful of players.

The only tie I have found is the players this happens with always seem to be players that have gone from the minors to the major that year, or possibly back and forth a few times. THis does not happen with all players that fit that description however...

Did you ever get time to run this test?
