Save Game time varies

I'm running OOTPB 2007 on a Mac. I routinely do a save game while playing.

I see a lot of variability in how long this takes. Usually it finishes pretty quickly - 10-20 seconds. But every so often (maybe once every 20 saves) it takes forever. It seems to happen at the 10% (Saving Players) stage.

The first couple times this happened, I thought the program had frozen, and terminated it. But one time I let it run, and after 4-5 minutes - it finished saving successfully! So now when it hangs, I just wait...

Any idea what could be going on? Or what I could be looking for?

I'm not an expert on the Mac side of the game, but does the game take longer to save at certain points during the season?

How big is your league? The bigger the league, the more game batting, game pitching, game fielding and at bat data there will be by the end of the season which needs to be saved. Get to the preseason and all that data gets wiped which would make saving quicker

Good suggestions, but I don't think they apply here. I tend to save the game after every simulated day or two, so the amount of data will be slightly larger on each save. The variability I'm seeing bears no correlation to this - the games saved after a real long save are just as fast as the ones before it.
