Seemingly random crash during Autoplay

I was running an MLB 2007 league ("New Major League Game" button at main screen). Took control of a team, allowed the computer to Autoplay most of the season. Simulation humming along just fine until August 9, when the game abruptly stops while simulating Pacific Coast League games and Vista gives the "OOTP Baseball 8 has stopped working" error, at which point I have two options: "Check online for a solution and close the program," or "Close the program." Needless to say, I'm none too pleased with either of those options.

This has occured at the exact same point in game time with multiple different MLB 2007 leagues (haven't tried it with other types of league), and I can't get around it no matter what I do. (I thought I had it fixed when I manually played the exact game it's simulating when it crashes, but it just finished out the 9th of August and then crashed anyway.)

Modern system running Vista Ultimate, OOTP v8.0.0.13, etc. Love the game, hate bugs. Help appreciated. Thanks!

Can you try a fictional MLB game and see if that falls over on August 9th as well?

Interesting--started a fictional league, played in Commissioner Mode without controlling a team, and the entire regular season simmed without incident.

Then, when the regular season was over, I went to the leaderboards to inspect some of the stats, and when I clicked on a player to view his profile...

"OOTP Baseball 8 has stopped working."

So this thread just went from a tech support request to a bug report.

I went back and took a look at the most recent save I had from my original MLB 2007 league. It turns out that the Las Vegas 51s of the Pacific Coast League--the league that the game sims when it crashes--are, for whatever reason, "duplicated." The team only shows up once in the league structure, but there are two different iterations of the team on the schedule, playing games, etc. The players and team only seem to exist once, but they are scheduled for two games each day and statistics seem to be double what they should be (their record is listed as 118-102).

On the game day on which the league crashes (edit: 8/6, not 8/9) the 51s are listed to play themselves, with the SAME PITCHER starting for both teams. Whether this is a precipitating cause in the game's crashing, I can't really tell, but it sure as hell ain't helping anything.

I'll see if I can fix this and, if I can, whether or not it actually eliminates my crashing problem. If anyone has experienced a similar issue, feel free to post. Thanks!

UPDATE: While the 51s are out playing two games a day and racking up monstrous statistical totals, it appears that the Iowa Cubs have failed to play a single game all season. Schedule coding error, maybe? Looking into it...

I am having issues with the game crashing when I click on a Players Profile as well, but have yet to experience the August issue or double game/day play.

The Iowa Cubs not having any matches and the 51s have twice as many is a known issue with the MLB quickstart.

I've simmed a whole season of the MLB quickstart without issue, and I imagine the pitching lineup in 51s v 51s was the same pitcher starting for both sides as the game stores the rotation for each team and it would likely pick the same next pitcher.

I'm going to drop you a PM with my email address and if you can send all the .dat files zipped up I'll see what happens on my computer and see if there is anything around the start of August that is causing this.

As this has gone a week without a reply, it will be closed for housekeeping reasons. If you need further help with this issue, please post a link to this thread in Tech Support and we will be happy to continue to troubleshoot it with you. Thanks.
