Defensive Ratings Disappear

I'm hoping someone else can shed some light on this problem I'm experiencing in my league. Certain players, for whatever reason, are having their defensive ability vanish leaving members to question whether a player can play the position.

What's odd is that while on the player ratings screen, a player who say was once rated as a 4 in LF on the 1 to 5 scale now has no rating, but as commissioner, I can go to his editor, and it will show the player as being say a 150 on the 1 to 200 scale.

Is this just a glitch? Why would the game just not convey the player's ability to play a position anymore?

If a player drops too far below certain thresholds on his component defensive ratings, he loses the ability to effectively play the position. The Editor keeps ratings as a reference point.

So for instance, if one of your players' IF Arm ratings began declining, he'd eventually lose the ability to play 3B, then SS, then finally 2B.
