crash on startup after installation (mac osx tiger)

I recently downloaded OOTP8. After installation and payment, I tried to run the game, but I couldn't get past the title screen with the stopwatch before the game crashed. Restarting did not help. I also tried to install in a different folder, but this didn't help either.

Please help with this issue.

I have a Macbook Intel core duo running Mac OSX Tiger 10.4.11.

I don't know much about macs, so I don't know what other information to include - let me know if you need something else.

I've done a quick forum search, and a few months back, someone with a similar issue had to buy leopard to resolve his problem - i hope i don't have to go that far, and that something has been found out.

Yeah, it looks as though we are having some difficulty with that operating system. Another user posted a bit more information here:
