Free Agent

Is this a bug or just a player not wanting to sign. Regardless, it seems weird that he'd email me the Yankees offer if mine was $110,000 more.

Two real issues though:
1) Email says he prefers Yankees offer...extension says "Braves"
2) Email says Yankees offering $790,000 over 3 years.

Last little "proof" I think this is a bug or odd little anomaly .

His desire for winner is only 65/200. His greed is 182/200.

He could have gotten a better offer from the Yankees, then an even better one from the Braves.

The email actually says $790,000 per year over three years.

He ended up signing for an average of $865,000 per year. That seems comparable to your offer. Given that even with a high greed rating, players factor in other things, this doesn't seem too unreasonable.

Do you disagree?

Is there any chance a day went by between the Yankee's offer and the Brave's higher offer? So that the email is a day old (and a dollar or two short)?

The Yankees offer of $790,000 was the same day that it said he prefered the Braves offer. At the time, mine was like $110,000 more.

Don't completely disagree, it's more the fact that I had the highest offer but he liked the Yankees offer...but yet preferred the Braves offer. Just seems iffy.

The offers come in order. The Yankees had the highest offer when your offer was evaluated, then the Braves were evaluated to have a better offer afterward. That isn't uncommon behavior.

Think of it as having spoken to the player in the morning, then talking to his agent again that night. Things changed in the interim. I'm fairly sure that this is not a bug.

Would you be okay with me closing this thread out, or would you like to discuss it further?

Well, I can tell you that after following the Orioles for so long, especially these last 10 years, you get to see players turn down bucks for situations more to their liking.
