Created Players Retiring

I have been having a problem with my historical league. I have simmed from 1901 through 1996 so far, and starting in 1989 I began adding a few fictional players based on people I know. The issue is that these players keep retiring for no reason. I do have the retire players according to history option checked, but is that the problem? If so, why would that affect fictional players?

A little info. I created a starting pitcher and he pitched in the minors a couple of seasons, was developing nicely, then retired. I unretired him and he went on to make his MLB debut then after a good rookie year he retired again. He did this 4 times in his first 7 years. I thought it might just be this one player, but another player I had created after the first had a big year with 30 HR and 100 RBI at age 21 and he then retired at the end of the year.

Gibson swings, and a fly ball to deep right field! This is gonna be a home run! Unbelievable! A home run for Gibson! And the Dodgers have won the game, 5 to 4; I don't believe what I just saw! I don't believe what I just saw!

Are you using version 9.1.6?

Presumably, you aren't seeing any issues with historical players retiring at odd times? Your fictional players retire for no reason some years, but not all years, yes? Always at the end of the season?

Yes, I'm using the latest version. The only time historical players have been retiring have been for the usual reasons, such as they reached their retirement year in the game or they truly weren't worth staying in the game anymore. I currently have 3 created players in the game and it's the end of the 1996 season. I created on in 1989, he retired at the end of 1991, then again after 1993. Then again after 1995. Each season he had great ratings and put up strong numbers. He had no CEI. He wasn't even a free agent and decided to retire because nobody was signing him. He just retired.

Another created player started in 1994. He played the first two seasons, then with his ratings really getting to his potential and coming off of a great season, he retired at age 21 at the end of 1996. I am going to assume that this bug starts out 2 years after the player comes into the league, and since I added another fictional player to start the last season, he should be retiring for the first time at the end of 1997. I just don't get it.

I'm not a historical player, so just a shot in the dark.

You have no other fictional players in the league other than the ones you created?

Any chance you have 3-yr Recalc on and if so, is it based on real-life or Lahman? Do you think there's any possibility the game is (on recalc) treating those created players like they didn't exist historically and prompts their retirement at that point?
