I have three recurring problems almost from the day I downloaded version 9 for the first time. I stopped playing the game for a long time and was just about to delete it from my hard drive when 9.2.2 came out. So I said to myself, let's try it again. No such luck.
The game mostly plays fine. I have successfully completed two and a half seasons of a fictional league since installing 9.2.2. Two of my problems are seemingly minor. The third is the problem. Here they are: 1. (And I've posted on this before.) Especially during off season, I can't go more than two or three days without hearing from some manager or coach who thinks I have made an offer to him and he wants to politely decline. Except no offer was ever made. I just ignore them and they eventually stop, only to start again when some other goofball decides to clog my inbox with his lunatic ramblings about a phantom offer. (WHY do they need to decline my "offer" five or six times!!) 2. (I think I've also posted on this one before.) My rookie league has 200 players. Not sure how it got that big. Maybe it was the initial draft that I let auto complete after about twenty rounds. In any case, now every time I have an amateur draft (three now), ten days later, I get a message telling me about a bunch of guys on the "designated for assignment" screen that need attention. So I dutifully demote them to my Short Season squad, which is now getting larger with each passing season. Seems to me I may have a serious problem several game years down the way. 3. Right now, however, the killer problem is random crashes. Like I said above, I managed to get through 2.5 years without one. And I did most things in the game. What caused this crash? Well, I pressed the "complete trade" button. Yes, I had previously completed trades in this game. So, who knows? (I see now after looking at the logged issues that this problem seems to have been experienced by others and that perhaps you guys are looking for zipped files. That thread stops about a month ago. Have you gotten anyone's zipped files?) I would love to upload my files and have someone take a look and tell me, oh, you just had a corrupt hfgjsao.dat file, here's a good one, have a nice day. Somehow I doubt that will happen.... (The last version of the game worked so well........... )

Hi,
Sorry for the delay in any response to your post. When you say you would love to zip up your files and post them are you having problems with getting the files FTPed up to the server?

Thanks for jumping in.
No, that's not what I'm saying. I should clarify that in the meantime, I found the logged issue related to crashing during trades. On that thread, Markus had solicited zipped files and provided his direct email. So, I zipped my files and sent them to him for analysis related just to that issue. It appears that having a rookie league that is completely full (200 guys) prevents trades involving minor leaguers. Don't know why, but if I make sure that the rookie league is not full, then all trades appear to go through now. So we're left with - why does the rookie league fill up in the first place. (Although I might have solved that one, too. I went to the game controls and pressed the button the "return(ed) all control of AI teams to the AI" (paraphrasing there). For now, and I've only simmed less than a season, it appears that the rookie league is no longer filling up and is staying around 150 guys.) And, getting the repeated refusals of my offers for employment coming from people to who I never offered employment. That would still be an issue that perhaps requires the zipping and sending. Should I do that? |

If you could zip up your files and FTP them that would be helpful as we could have a look in the coaches.dat

I have zipped and posted my files to the FTP server. The file is named tinomaize2 (since I noticed I had files still there from the last time I had to do this).
If you can help fix the unwanted messages from coaches who seem to think I have offered them work, I would be quite happy.... |
