Team Personnel... want x but won't take 2x

I'm using 9.2.2 and running a historical league for about 10 years that's now up to 1995. My previous version was from July, don't remember a number, but I do appreciate that team staff are no longer hired for a century.

So I have minor league manager (AA) and he is making about $120,000 and is at the end of his contract. I like the guy, it's spring training, and I want to take care of this now. So I offer to extend, and he say's "I'll take $185,000 for 3 years." Now, in the offer box, it says $320,000 (I recall it use to have the amount they asked) and 5 years (which I think is default). So I really want the guy and offer him, $210,000 for 3 years (I've learned they are usually particular about years). Click to advance a day. He sends email telling me that I'll have to pony up more if I want his services.

So I think perhaps he wants just a little more and click extend offer. Well, he still claims $185,000 will do, but now the offer box says $340,000. So I give up and move to the pitching coach making $75,000. That guy is fine with $85,000 to come back for one more year. I offer him an exactly that. Next day... no dice. Pay up, or he's walking. So I try again, and this time, I just click the amount in the offer box ($185,000, which I think is ridiculous for a AA pitching coach in 1995 when the manager is making that amount, but...) and give him his 1 year. Next day... still not happy.

I don't recall it being this way. I expect it with the players, and I even enjoy negotiating and squabbling rates. But for coaches, scouts, trainers; I don't expect them to say $185,000 and not be happy with 120% or even 200%. Perhaps during the post season/winter meeting free agency fight, but not when the guy has a year to play with the team, and is given a good offer?

Am I off here?

BTW, first post, and I know this is a complaint, so I want to offer this disclaimer... Love the game. Really do. Best strategy sport simulator I've played.

I looked through the claimed bugs and fixed bugs, but didn't quite see something like this. I saw one about the players, which I disagreed with (disagreed it was a bug, and agreed with the administrator... try $/yr to compare offers). For me, version 8 handled the team personnel "offer extension" feature better, but I wouldn't trade 9 to go back to 8 and give up all the other goodies you put in. Please keep up the good work.

Short of a response from Markus about this, I don't think there is much that we can do with this apart from say "that's the way it's happening" - I don't know why it should be, but I don't recall having seen it before and I'm guessing not many others have or they would have said so. I'm going to close this thread for the time being.

I'll certainly note it down as something to be investigated during the beta-testing of v10.
