Crashes on start up-Mac
I can download, and install with no problems. Try to load the game and get an error message that reads, "OOTP found that the crashed_on_startup flag is set. This is the FIRST time I have ever loaded the game, so I don't understand why I am getting this message. My iMac exceeds all of the system requirements..
I have looked at the original thread from 9-30-08, and have tried to fix it according to the instructions on the thread, but it will not work. |

Have you tried redownloading the install files? Maybe something was damaged during the original file transfer.

I have tried redownloading the files several times. I even tried downloading from different pages.

You're downloading version 9.2.13? Have you tried these instructions:

I'm assuming that I'm downloading the latest version? If I click anywhere on the site to download it, isnt it already patched to that version? Either way, I always download the file ootp9macinstall.zip.download.
I tried following the instructions using terminal several times. Perhaps I am typing it in wrong? When I insert my user name, which has two names in it, should there be a space, a dash, or another character? Just wondering, because I've tried both but with no luck... |

You referenced this BZ #, but did you ever get to the point where you changed screen resolution? If not, then it's probably a different issue.
Are you using an Intel Mac? |

Yeah, it is a separate issue, but it is the closest problem I could find that was most related to mine. I get the same exact error message but have never had the opportunity to change the resolution because the game doesn't start and I immediately get the error message.
I'm running the 2 GHz core duo processor. 1 gig of ram, and the Radeon x1600 video card. |

I decided to download OOTP 8 and see if that works. It works flawlessly.
It just sucks because I've already paid for a license for OOTP 9.. ![]() |

I'm not terribly familiar with Macs, so I'm kinda groping around in the dark here.
When you tried reinstalling the game, did you delete everything that OOTP 9 installed on your computer? I don't know if the Mac has an equivalent to the Application Data folder, but the OOTP 9 files in the Windows version can cause problems. |

Every time I reinstalled I deleted all of the folders from both applications, and documents folders, before doing the reinstall.

Well, looks like I'm going to get a refund for 9, and just stick with 8 for the time being. Thanks for the help!
