AI setting up 6 lefty relievers ???
I question this stuff about realism with the so called situational pitching and batting.
Over the years we have had many specialist lefties that almost always faces 1-2 batters, mostly then lefthand batting big hitters. You call on a super lefty pitcher to face that big leftbatting HR crusher. Looking at games play-by-play over the seasons in the late 1980´s I seldom see the AI use any of this. More concerned over how the AI set up their pitcher staff. I have seen teams go into a season with 4 MR ALL lefties, 2 setups even them lefties and the closer a righthander. Just one example, and many close variations. IMHO the more standard thing is to have fewer lefties than righties on a pitching staff. Whats anyones opinion on this ??? Since the left-right "numbers" in ratings are based on pure procentage and not RL I took the liberty to change some off the more unique lefties over this time. Given them HEAVY stuffs vs lefthanded batters and less vs right. Trying to "force" the AI to make the pick more historically. Today I´m not sure of the success this manipulating thing have had, but I still see pitcher going more than the 1-2 batter I hoped to see. First I would like to see future OOTP versions of course lean more heavenly on this left vs right even when players are created. I think one could give more leaning based on a pitcher having many more games played in than innings. Some of these top lefties had perhaps 70 games but just 60 innings. That indicates that he was used mostly vs lefties IMHO. However have anyone in this forums playing historical versions tried to get this thing going. Getting the AI to select a more "real" pitching staff and then using more the great lefty in spot situations ???? ![]() |
