BZ 3284: Licence lost on reinstall
More of a cautionary tale, I guess. Linux install - I downloaded to desktop, and installed from there. Later on, I cleaned up all the icons on the desktop.
I couldn't retrieve ootp from the trash for some reason. So I downloaded and reinstalled, fine. That said, the first license key is now dead to me. ![]() V |

I'll log this as I don't think the licence should disappear on the same machine with the same configuration.

This is how the system works. By deleting the game you removed your license lock information too. This is easy to remedy, go to the webstore, log in and request the license to be released. The uninstaller has been modified to give a message about this to help prevent it happening by mistake.
This makes perfect sense when viewed from a Linux perspective. You would not expect an application to install files in random places around the disk and with no centralised registry it makes perfect sense that the license information is store with the installed game. |

Just to update, I did get an email overnight saying that the license had been released.
While licensing in linux has been a bit of a pain, it's been workable, and product support has been responsive and helpful. I continue to be ecstatic that this game is available and playable in linux. Thanks, folks. V |
