How do you make sure minor league stats are realistic?
So I has a fictional league set currently in year 1918 before I decided to add a minor league. The major league has PCMs closer to like 1905. So there's barely any homers, strikeouts, etc.
I created the minor league and simmed a 120 game minor league season without thinking. Of course more than a few guys ended up belting 40+ homers. What do I do to fix this? |

Using the MLB league totals in the minors doesn't work because the rate at which say triples are hit is different in each minor league, even if they are at the same level. Since you are already fictional you could just make it up. Something like, hitting 10% less HR but 15% more doubles but more strikeouts. A better steal rate, higher successful steals more WP and passed balls and so on. Not sure I really answered your question though. ![]()

Look at the League strategy page for the minor league. The league totals should match the league totals for the major league. Then check the box for "control the game engine ..." on that page. If you can't check that box, then go to the same page for the major league, uncheck the "adjust league total modifiers ..." button, go back and check the "control game engine button" then go back again and check the "adjust league total modifiers" button. Don't do this in the middle of a season. Do it during the off-season.
The result of all this is that your minor league should get a frequency of things like HRs that are similar to your major league. That doesn't mean the minor league stats will be similar to actual minor league stats of that era -- but it you knew what those latter were, there'd be another way of dealing with this problem. Hope that helps. |

I think I may have given you bad advice. When the minor leagues have the same league totals as the major league, then you probably don't want the "control game engine" setting checked. Only if the league totals are different do you want that.
A mind burp, I guess. Hope I didn't cause any problems. ![]() |
