Erroneous Unearned Runs

Finally found an unambiguous case. Runner on third, two outs (I think), no errors in the inning so far. Batter singles to left, runner scores. Ball goes thru LFs legs, batter goes to second. Run is scored unearned. The run scored on the single & should therefore be earned.

Runner advancement errors are treated the same as errors which result in the batter reaching base safely, which should not be. I realize creating hard & fast programming rules for ER is tough, since the scoring process can be highly subjective, but I think some kind of distinction should be made b/t these two mutually exclusive types of errors.

I'm trying to take a look at this for the next update. See this (and other) thread:

Thanks for the example. Hopefully we can get this straightened out.

I wonder if maybe the game is failing to distinguish an error that should've been an out versus an error that just results in an additional base taken?? This may explain some of what we are seeing, if it is treating any error as though it should've been an out.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. This distinction should be made in some way. The same thing happens when the catcher overthrows 2nd on a steal attempt.

After Reading Other the Threads ...

it seems to me ER scoring should be done after the inning ends & not during play. I realize this may be exceedingly difficult to program however.
